Bristlemoth

A compact, unsettlingly adorable winged critter whose oversized stare, needle-mouth, and layered fur make it feel both vulnerable and feral at once.

PUBLIC CHARACTER RECORD

What is known

A squat little creature with huge rectangular eyes, two thin head-feelers, small horn nubs, broad veined wings, and a heavy curtain of ragged fur spilling down around its face and chest. Its mouth is packed with tight sharp teeth, but the overall impression is less predator than strange survivor: a watchful, soft-bodied oddity built from fluff, tension, and stubborn presence.

PHYSICAL RECORD

A presence before an explanation

Silhouette
Front-heavy and symmetrical overall, with a round crowned head, wing-spread shoulders, a shaggy tapering chest mass, and oversized blocky forepaws planted forward. The eyes and wings make it look broader than it is tall.
Scale
Reads as small and low to the ground, likely housecat-sized or smaller. The head is oversized relative to the body, the paws are thick and blunt, and the wings appear powerful enough to feel slightly too large for the torso.
Material
Short velvet facial fur over warmer skin tones, heavier chest fur in rust and ember gradients, wing membranes flushed with apricot and rose-copper translucency, horn sheaths in muted gold-brown, and subtle darker mottling around the mouth and eye rims.
Colour

watchfulskittishstubborncuriousterritorial about personal comfort zones

It presents itself as menacing and untouchable, yet its strongest drive is not domination but safety.

WANTS

  • a place where it can perch or settle without being handled
  • predictable patterns in its surroundings
  • to investigate unfamiliar things at its own pace

FEARS

  • sudden grasping or looming attention
  • being cornered with no escape upward or sideways
  • loud disturbances close to its face

HABITS

  • freezing completely before deciding whether to approach or flee
  • testing the air and mood with its head-feelers
  • puffing out its fur to seem larger when uneasy
  • keeping its forepaws planted while the rest of it shifts with tension

SOURCE ANCHORS

  • The enormous blocky eyes that dominate the face
  • Two distinct upright head-feelers/antennae plus the small horned points at the crown
  • The tightly packed sharp-toothed mouth centered beneath a small nose
  • The layered, dripping-looking facial and chest fur
  • Large side-set veined wings tucked behind the body
