PUBLIC INHABITANT RECORD
RESIDENT DOSSIER / The Middle Distances
A quiet, front-facing watcher built from soft mass and hard attention: awkwardly grounded, emotionally unreadable at first glance, but impossible to ignore once it has fixed on you.
PUBLIC CHARACTER RECORD
A broad-domed figure stands with an almost ceremonial stillness, its long blank face dropping between two large side-set eyes like a hanging mask. Small jagged tufts crown the outer edges of the head, while stacked collar-like bands sit beneath the eyes and above a narrow torso that descends into oversized, split front feet. The whole design feels both gentle and severe: a creature of pause, pressure and watchfulness rather than speed.
KNOWN WORLD LOCATION
ORDINARY LIFE HERE
Its design strongly suits a station district presence: side-set vigilance, planted footing, and a body that feels made for watching flow rather than joining it. Provisional fit: it could serve in the margins of platforms, queues or cargo thresholds where pattern recognition matters more than speed.
WORLD EFFECTIts presence would make the district feel more supervised and strangely orderly; people might slow down, re-check themselves, or treat certain crossings with more care simply because it is there.
NEARBY ON THE CURRENT SURVEY
These are geographic neighbours, not implied friends or allies.
A soft-bodied, heavy-limbed station dweller whose huge square-lidded eyes and draped anatomy make them feel shy, practical, and hard to rush.
A flamboyant porklike little being whose heavy-lidded, solemn face hides a warm social creature with a startlingly huge laugh.
A tiny, soft-bodied station creature whose enormous watchful eyes and drooping ears make it feel tender, alert, and emotionally legible at a glance.
APPROVED WORLD THREADS
Unlike geographic proximity, these links crossed creator review and carry their own provenance.
Proposed practical coordination during unusual or obstructed rail movements; not friendship or shared history.
A stalled movement in Gristlewick Station Yard was completed only after the crossing fell unusually still and two resident workers acted in sequence. The work succeeded before the procedure existed, which is usually how procedures are discovered and occasionally how committees are born.

This is the original hand-made source from which Nubble entered the Living Atlas. It is preserved unchanged and shown beside—not beneath—the approved interpretation.
Original line retained. Corrections belong to the hand that made them.
COMPLETE APPROVED CHARACTER SHEET
The approved sheet remains available as a visual record. It supports the inhabitant; it does not need to dominate every encounter.
PHYSICAL RECORD
OCCUPATION & CHARACTER
It looks severe and possibly unapproachable, yet its deepest instinct is caretaking through vigilance.
