PUBLIC INHABITANT RECORD
RESIDENT DOSSIER / The Middle Distances
An ancient, massively built yard-being whose blunt weight and quiet will make impossible rail movements feel routine.
PUBLIC CHARACTER RECORD
Drelm is a gigantic station-yard presence: broad as a loading shed door, low-set, antler-crowned, and marked by a heavy mask-like face with narrow, shut-looking eyes and a long tongue hanging from a deep, tusked mouth. In ordinary life it works with the rail crew in the gristlewick-station-district, leaning its sheer mass and uncanny force into stalled carriages, misaligned couplings, and trains that need nudging into place when engines alone are not enough. It does not read as a ruler or a beast on display; it reads as something old, useful, and half-understood that has simply always belonged to the work.
KNOWN WORLD LOCATION
ORDINARY LIFE HERE
The station district is the clearest fit because this being’s whole apparent routine revolves around rail labor. An ordinary day there would involve waiting near sidings or transfer lines until a foreman, switcher, or mechanic needs brute force applied carefully rather than violently. It belongs not in ceremony but in the practical choreography of engines, wagons, brakes, and crew calls.
WORLD EFFECTIts presence makes certain stalled or dangerous yard tasks thinkable at all. It would also change the social tone of the station district: workers speak about it as part colleague, part old local fact, and the district itself feels older and stranger because such a being is folded into everyday operations.
NEARBY ON THE CURRENT SURVEY
These are geographic neighbours, not implied friends or allies.
A flamboyant porklike little being whose heavy-lidded, solemn face hides a warm social creature with a startlingly huge laugh.
A tiny, soft-bodied station creature whose enormous watchful eyes and drooping ears make it feel tender, alert, and emotionally legible at a glance.
A soft, visibly mended little creature whose whole presence suggests patient repair, quiet endurance, and a strangely reassuring kind of wear.
APPROVED WORLD THREADS
Unlike geographic proximity, these links crossed creator review and carry their own provenance.
Proposed practical coordination during unusual or obstructed rail movements; not friendship or shared history.
A stalled movement in Gristlewick Station Yard was completed only after the crossing fell unusually still and two resident workers acted in sequence. The work succeeded before the procedure existed, which is usually how procedures are discovered and occasionally how committees are born.

COMPLETE APPROVED CHARACTER SHEET
The approved sheet remains available as a visual record. It supports the inhabitant; it does not need to dominate every encounter.

OCCUPATION & CHARACTER
It appears ominous and prehistoric, yet its daily role is cooperative, technical, and almost workmanlike.
